In this lesson I will be discussing chains and spell speeds more in depth.
I did check to see whether C.C has done it before and found the lesson not to detailed. Therefore I will try discuss this in more detail.

First lets discuss what a chain is.
A chain is a way to to order resolution of multiple effects activated at once.(Basically a way of ordering the effects that were activated in a way to see what the end result will be.) When a card or effect is activated the opponent always has a chance to respond with a card or effect of his own that will form a chain. Before a card or an effect is resolved you have to give the opponent chance to respond.

How a chain works:
A chain activates from chain link 1, but resolves from the last chain link down.
Example:
Chain Link 1: heavy storm,
Chain Link 2: Starlight Road,
Chain Link 3: Mystical Space Typhoon.(Targeting Heavy Storm

The activation order would be Heavy Storm, then Starlight Road and then Mystical Space Typhoon.

Then the resolution order would be: Mystical Space Typhoon destroying Heavy Storm, Starlight Road negating Heavy Storms effect, but seeing as it is not able to meet the requirements to summon Stardust Dragon the chain has fully resolves.
Credits for the chain example goes to genex's lesson.

Now many may ask what do spell speeds have to do with chains?
Well chains are more complicated than what you would expect and you can only chain spell speeds that are higher or equal to the previous chain link's spell speed and it also has to be spell speed 2 or higher.

Every card has a spell speed between 1 and 3.

The following cards and type of effects have the following spell speeds:

Spell Speed 1:

Normal Spells, Equip Spells, Continuous Spells, Field Spells, and Ritual Spells.
Monster effect types: Ignition Effects, Trigger Effects, and Flip Effects.

Spell Speed 2:

Normal Traps, Continuous Traps.
Quick-Play Spells.
Monster Effects: Quick Effects.

Spell Speed 3:

Counter Traps.

Here is a lesson on how to identify which effects are which
